Ever make something and then ask yourself,

What does it take to be a hero? In this case, it's a combination of selfless love, incredible courage and opportunity. This is a slideshow I put together from pictures I received in my e-mail... After researching on the web, I found that they were published as a feature in the August 17, 2009 edition of the Herald Sun, a newspaper in Melbourne, Australia. The photos are by Chris Scott. (I have sent the newspaper a copy of this video.) read the article by John Masanauskas here: www.news.com.au The moment I saw them, one, and only one, song came to mind - and I was compelled to marry this touching story with this legendary music. My goal here was to keep the visuals simple and honest; enhancing, rather than distracting attention away from this beautiful series of pictures - so no real earth-shattering FX on this go. The dramatic pans and zooms were done with fotomorph by Digital Photo Software - which, apart from the morphing application, is a very versitile and useful secondary feature of this software. The audio track was edited with Wave Pad and Mix Pad from NCH Software. Then, I tied it all together with Windows Movie Maker. I especially like the sequence at 0:54. A rather different use for morphing software. Shots of a recent fender bender my roommate took of a car hit in our parking lot. Since it was hard to picture the spacial relationship from the individual snapshots, and I was bored, I morphed them together. I really like the pseudo 3-D effect at 0:44. A few days later, after making the clip, I got bored again and went to: www.incompetech.com to see if Kevin had any music posted that would fit. Through a VERY bizarre coincidence, this soundtrack matched almost perfectly - and it's in 7 a rather unusual time signature. I did not further edit the video to the music.
